Open Day and visit from Jena

On the last day of school before Easter Break, our friends from Young Life helped us put on an Open Day for the students! Games included tug of war, horseshoes, trivia, penalty kicks against a teacher, and a lip reading game. We finished off the day with an easter egg hunt and a student vs. faculty soccer match! All of the pictures are on our Facebook page.

The day also included a visit from German representatives of the Jena Football Club in Germany. We received this message today from Matthias from Jena, Germany, who is coordinating a partnership between the municipalities of Jena and Beit Jala. The quote below was part of an article he published in the Jena Fan Project Magazine about his trip to Palestine, in which his group visited our school to play a friendly football match:

"There was also a visit to the "Hope School" and the Kunstrasenplatz created with the support of the partner cities of Jena and Bergisch-Gladbach. The football team's project to prevent violence has been supported for some time by the fan project with football equipment. In the course of the visit, a player and a goalkeeper jersey were handed over to the headmaster, Mr. Khader Saba...A small football game Hope School Beit Jala vs. Fan Project Jena...ended up 3: 2 for the hosts."
